PGA Tour star furiously throws club into lake at Players Championship | Golf | Sport

PGA Tour star Adam Hadwin let his emotions get the better of him during the opening round of the Players Championship on Thursday – chucking his club into a lake on the last. After a mixed front nine, Hadwin had scored impressively, making three birdies in seven holes to leave him at level-par with two holes left.

But then he got to the famous 17th and, like many before him, hit his tee shot short as it splashed into the water. This led to a penalty shot and a double bogey, undoing all his good work.

His troubles weren’t over though. His tee shot at the last hole nearly ended up in the water too, but luckily it stopped just short. However, he didn’t make the most of this luck as his second shot rolled off the green and into the water.

Furious with his mistake, he decided to throw his club into the water before heading up to the green. He managed to limit the damage to a bogey, ending the opening round three-over-par.

Sky Sports’ commentators were quick to jump on his actions, with former professional Nick Dougherty remarking about the water down the left on the 18th: “It always wants a refund. And he is paying it back double. He can have the ball, might as well have the club as well.”
